习总书记深刻指出：“文化是一个国家、一个民族的灵魂。”对中国这样一个正在迈向中华民族伟大复兴宏伟目标的国家来说，文化自信起着重要支柱和精神基因的作用。坚定文化自信是事关国家发展、文化安全、民族精神独立性的大问题。文化自信是中国的外国文学学者应具备的立场。
在全球保守主义和分离主义抬头的时代，外国文学学者如何在继承中华民族几千年来形成的优秀传统的同时，真正地认识和吸纳世界诸民族的优秀文化？文化自信对于文学研究意味着什么？又会给世界主义与文学研究带来怎样的启示？
“文化自信、世界主义与文学研究”国际研讨会拟于2021年11月6-7日举办，会议届时将邀请国内外知名专家学者做主旨发言，欢迎广大中青年学者积极与会交流。
本次会议由《英美文学研究论丛》编辑部主办，南阳师范学院外国语学院承办。诚邀您和您的团队参加本次大会，请于2021年10月1日前将论文摘要发送至会议邮箱：nynuwyxy@126.com。

“Cultural Confidence, Cosmopolitanism and Literary Studies”

“Culture is the soul of a country or nation”, as Chinese President Xi Jinping has perspicaciously pointed out. The prosperity and strength of the culture of any country or nation are indicators of its overall strength. For a great country like China, which is marching toward the grand goal of national rejuvenation, cultural confidence is the spiritual gene that is inherent in the Chinese psyche and serves as an important pillar on which the future of the country rests. Thereby, boosting cultural confidence is a major issue that concerns our national destiny, cultural security, as well as national spiritual independence. It is fitting and proper to say that a heightened sense of cultural confidence should be embedded into the hearts and minds of Chinese scholars in the field of foreign language and literature studies.
Against the backdrop of the rise of global conservatism and disintegration, how can scholars in the field of foreign language and literature studies better preserve and carry forward the fine traditions formed by the Chinese nation in the long history of development, while in real earnest appreciating and absorbing the essence of foreign cultures? What does cultural confidence mean for literary studies? What revelations will it bring to the understanding of cosmopolitanism and literary studies?
An International Conference on “Cultural Confidence, Cosmopolitanism and Literary Studies” is to be held on November 6-7, 2021. Renowned experts and scholars both at home and abroad will be invited to participate and give keynote speeches.
The conference is organized by English and American Literary Studies, and hosted by the School of Foreign Languages of Nanyang Normal University. We sincerely welcome you and your team to attend this event. Authors are invited to submit abstracts before October 1, 2021 to the following email address: nynuwyxy@126.com.

III. Conference Fees and Registration
1. 800 RMB will be charged for conference fees. Students’ registration fees will be halved with valid proof of status (student ID card). Please note that accommodation and transportation costs will be borne by attendees themselves.
2. The Organizing Committee provides accommodation booking services. Should you need to book accommodation, please give a clear indication in the registration receipt.
